Excerpts from Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners Applicant History - Item 18. Medical History
The applicant should provide history and treatment. Issuance of a medical certificate to an applicant with high blood pressure (hypertension) may depend on the current blood pressure levels and whether the applicant is taking anti-hypertensive medication, and how effective these medications are. As with all treatable conditions, the AME will review side effect profile of the therapy as well as the effectiveness (therapeutic response). The AME should also determine if the applicant has a history of complications, adverse reactions to therapy, hospitalization, etc. (Details are given in Item 36 - Heart ; and Item 55 - Blood Pressure Considerations ). |
