Aerospace Medical Dispositions
Item 41. G-U System - Index
The FAA discusses the following categories of genital-urinary conditions most likely to have of aeromedical significance. An FAA sanctioned course of action is listed for the common conditions. These FAA protocols and dispositions define what the AME should do as far as issuing an Airman Medical Certificate. AMEs must withhold Airman Medical certificates for any listed medical condition that specifically requires deferral. Also medical certificates must be withheld for any condition not listed if in the AME's judgment, that condition might result in sudden or subtle incapacitation. If this is the "judgment call" then the AME will get an automatic "second opinion" because he/she is then required to consult the AMCD or the RFS. Medical documentation must be submitted for any condition in order to support an issuance of an airman medical certificate.
